About

Niki Brownlow

Getting to relief doesn't always have to be complicated.  Treating the body on a physical level and relieving pain will help the emotions and stress; and treating the mind and stress will help relieve the bodies aches and pains.  Traditional Chinese Theory looks for a root cause to the many symptoms, yet the root cause is healed by many contributing factors.

Getting to a healthy balance is a pace and there is a gestation stage with each movement forward which needs to be 'celebrated'. Sometimes a label or causative factor keeps us in a holding pattern or we want to jump to an end result in a single bound.  Give yourself breathing space, conditions and our bodies need time to change. Start simple, find a little relief, move forward (or down), then delve to the next level.

All practitioners develop a personal way of getting change for their clients and utilising the differing skills from more than one treatment provider is often a more consolidating path to relief.  I enjoy getting clients out of pain, or emotional discomfort in treatment and contributing to long term benefit, but the knowledge and practical skills of other types of therapies can be vital to recovery.

I enjoy starting the light at the end of the tunnel for clients, whose journey has already been long.

Experience

My journey to now

I first became aware of acupuncture and its great results when being treated for a viral fatigue condition with digestive issues.  Amazed at the results of one treatment contributing to feeling 'normal' again I put it on the list alongside Naturopathy to perhaps study.  Choosing to do the 4yr BHSc acupuncture in 2007 at the NZ School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine also gave the opportunity to work as an acupuncturist onboard cruise lines travelling all around the world while practicing acupuncture.  And yes, sometimes the ship was rocking while I was needling.

After working in two very busy clinics in Wellington with acupuncturist colleagues from 2016 for 5years, Whanganui became my location for a quieter lifestyle.  Working from home gives me the opportunity to create the 'Zen' calm space for my clients.

I have a long experience in musculoskeletal pain (and injury) and continued with online acupuncture sports medicine study.  I have great results also when combing these treatments with migraines, stress, depression, anxiety and chronic fatigue.   I have helped successfully with fertility and enjoy facial needling.  Underlying all conditions I generally treat the digestive system quietly and treatments  often result in side effects of great sleep and vitality.
