Getting to relief doesn't always have to be complicated. Treating the body on a physical level and relieving pain will help the emotions and stress; and treating the mind and stress will help relieve the bodies aches and pains. Traditional Chinese Theory looks for a root cause to the many symptoms, and a root cause can be influenced by many contributing factors.

Getting to a healthy balance is a pace and there is a gestation stage with each movement forward which needs to be 'celebrated'. Sometimes a label or causative factor keeps us in a holding pattern or we want to jump to an end result in a single bound. Give yourself breathing space, conditions and our bodies need time to change. Start simple, find a little relief, move forward, then delve to the next level.

All practitioners develop a personal style of getting change for their clients and utilising the differing skills from more than one treatment provider is often a more consolidating path to relief. I enjoy contributing to the wellbeing of clients on their movement from pain, or emotional discomfort and help create long term benefit. I enjoy starting the light at the end of the tunnel for clients, whose journey has already been long.

Experience
My journey to now
My first experience of TCM acupuncture was as a young person for a viral fatigue condition with digestive issues. Intrigued by the results I pursued to study with an interest in depression, anxiety and the body and mind connection. Graduating in 2010 with the 4yr BHSc Acupuncture from the NZ School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine led to the opportunity to practice acupuncture onboard cruise lines. Visiting 60 countries and 5 years later, gaining practice knowledge in a great deal of pain conditions was definitely worth it. And yes, sometimes the ship was rocking while I was needling. It paved way to utilising muscular skeletal pain treatments as the ground work to relieve other conditions.

After working in two very busy clinics in Wellington with acupuncturist colleagues from 2016 for another 5 years, Whanganui became my location for a quieter lifestyle. Now working from home gives me the opportunity to create the 'Zen' calm space for my clients, which I find is a necessary part for my focus and for the clients healing process.

I use my practical experience of musculoskeletal pain extensively in the clinic and continue with online acupuncture sports medicine study. I often combine musculoskeletal treatments with providing acupuncture for migraines, stress, depression, anxiety and chronic fatigue. Some of the other clinical experiences are; support with fertility, digestion, sleep, sinus and facial needling.
